In 2020, Dan started Artaev at Law – an innovative, 100% modern and digital law firm – to meet the demand for modern legal services from 21st century business owners. The firm’s motto is “do it right,” which applies both to the quality of legal work and how we treat our clients. We firmly believe that our clients are also our business partners. By hiring Dan Artaev, our clients do not just get a lawyer – they also gain a legal counselor and valuable team member fully invested in the success of their venture.

Dan then moved to the Metro Detroit area and transitioned to private practice, focusing on high-stakes commercial litigation in both state and federal courts. Working for a Northville-based business firm, Dan assisted owners with real estate, asset and stock sales, NDAs, and employment contracts. Dan also used his experience in both the private and public sectors to help healthcare and other licensees to successfully navigate and resolve administrative actions filed by the State of Michigan.

Dan is a fluent Russian speaker, and is conversant in German and Spanish. He obtained dual majors in Economics and German from Kalamazoo College, where he was a magna cum laude graduate, completed a 6-month study abroad program at the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen, Germany, and was also a 4-year member of the storied K-College NCAA Division III men’s tennis team.

Dan is licensed in the state courts of Michigan, Michigan’s federal courts for the Eastern and Western Districts, and the federal court for the Southern District of Indiana. Additionally, Dan has been admitted to practice in the United States Bankruptcy and Tax Courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Dan is also a trained mediator and firmly believes in the value of early dispute resolution.

Outside of his law practice, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, and a special-needs cat named Maxim. Dan retired from tennis due to injury, but is now an avid cyclist and swimmer who frequents the local LifeTime Fitness. When not on his bike and on Zwift or watching Tour de France reruns, Dan is a technology addict and gamer of everything.
