There is a better way to resolve disputes.

Between 2017 and 2019, only 0.87% of all Michigan business cases were resolved through a verdict at trial. The overwhelming majority were settled through mediation, dismissed, or still pending in 2020. Odds are that your case is going to resolve without a decision from a judge or a jury.

Dan Artaev is a trained mediator who knows what it takes to get all sides to “yes.” As a litigator in state and federal courts across the State of Michigan, Dan has represented businesses, private individuals, community associations, and other entities in dozens of mediations, in front of many different neutrals. Dan has been through strategies that work and those that do not, and will take a personal interest in getting your matter resolved with a solution that works for all parties.

“Effective mediation is not about deciding who gets the bigger slice of the pie. A good mediator facilitates creative solutions that make the whole pie bigger.” – Dan Artaev

Dan is available to serve as the mediator for your dispute wherever you may be located. Artaev at Law prides itself on using the latest technology, and mediations via Zoom are not only feasible, they are surprisingly effective. The technology allows parties to be in the same virtual room or separate out into their own private rooms, with the mediator going back and forth. Zoom also has sophisticated screensharing, chat, and whiteboard tools, to maximize communication and collaborative problem-solving.

Dan is also available to represent you in alternative dispute resolution (“ADR”) proceedings as your lawyer. Whether you are involved in mediation or arbitration, whether a lawsuit has been filed or not, Dan is ready to step in and advocate for your interests.

“Dan has a reassuring, calming presence. Even when meeting him for the first time, people know that they can trust him.”

– Jessica H.

Based on his extensive litigation experience, Dan understands that litigation is not the best way for the modern business owner to resolve disputes. The traditional court system is simply too expensive and time-consuming and statistically, the parties end up resolving their differences in a court-ordered mediation proceeding anyway. Verdicts are rare, and even if you “win” at trial, the other side can still tie you up in appeals and make it difficult, if not impossible, to collect on any judgment.

Dan is an advocate of the most modern alternative dispute resolution techniques that can get a case resolved even before a lawsuit is filed. Or, even if there is litigation already, early pre-discovery facilitation can result in minimized money and time costs, as well as the benefit of a private solution. Lawsuits and documents filed as part of lawsuits are traditionally public, but an early, private, resolution can protect parties confidentiality interests. This may be especially critical in disputes concerning technology, trade secrets, or other proprietary data, as well as any other dispute where the parties do not necessarily want to share their grievances with the general public. After all, who knows if you will lose a potential client, customer, or business partner because they are perceive you as overly litigious?

“Every conflict is unique. A good mediator has many different tools in his arsenal and must be prepared to adapt during the course of the session in response to the parties’ needs and goals.” – Dan Artaev
